The Diploma in Physiotherapy (DPT)
is specifically designed to provide clinical training along with
a sound academic reinforcement. The students will acquire skills
that will give them the professional competence to treat a full
range of physical Impediments which could be congenital, post
operative or occur after a major Accident. The Managerial skills
imparted to students will also allow them to develop their abilities
in the selection and implementation of Rehabilitation Schemes
and measures.
This course has a balanced combination
of subjects in relation to Physiotherapy with a substantial component
of Medical Subjects. Physiotherapy involves Therapeutic Exercises,
Electrotherapy and Physiotherapy in clinical conditions. Rehabilitation
is concerned with the techniques of Bio-Mechanics, Prosthetic
and Orthotic appliances, Occupational Therapy and Social Medicine.
Thus the Diploma holder will have a comprehensive understanding
of both the l ines of therapy and can act as a Supervisor, Independent
Practitioner and Trainee / Educator in the field of his / her
choice.

Objectives:

To
impart professional education in physiotherapy through the
medium of Basic Medical , Basic Physiotherapy Sciences ,
Clinical Medicine and Surgery with reference to specialty
exposure , Clinical Physiotherapeutic. |

To train
the students via Classroom Lectures , Lecture Demonstrations
, Audio-Visual aids , Practice Sessions on normal subjects
, Case Demonstrations , Supervised Clinical Practices on
out patients as well as In patients. |

To train
the students in acquiring basic skills in Clinical Examination
, Physical and physiological performance , testing physical
diagnosis and prognosis. |

To expose
the students to Record writing as well as Scientific method
of write-ups history taking , interview techniques, observation
& clinical examination , physical laboratory investigation
, critical analysis , evaluation of information, probable
diagnosis & disability evaluation, planning of additional
investigation and physiotherapeutic line of treatment. |

To train
in decision making on specific treatment modalities relevant
to the physical / physiological dysfunction. |
Eligibility :
| 1 |
PUC / PDC / HSC / 10 + 2 with Science (Physics, Chemistry,
Biology). |

Male/Female
candidates with good conduct and sound health between the
age of 17 to 35 years are eligible. |
| 3 |
Physical
fitness must be ensured by certification from a registered
medical practitioner. |

Working
knowledge of English is essential. |
Duration:
Three academic years and 6 months Internship.
