Bachelor Degree in Physical Education
(BP.ED)

Eligibility for Admission :

Any graduate of Bangalore University or any other University recognised by the Bangalore University as equivalent thereto who is physically fit and satisfies any of the following conditionswill bw eligible for admission to B.P.Ed. Degree Course.

a
Graduate in Physical Education, i.e.,B.P.E of three year duration with 45% marks.

 

or
Graduate with atleast 40% marks,having represented State / University / Sports / Games /Athletics / as per the list of sports of A.I.U.
or
Graduate with atleast 40% marks,who has secured 1rst , 2nd or 3 rd position in University Inter -Collegiate sports / games tournaments or possessing NCC 'C' certificate or passed basic course in adventure sports.
or
Graduate with atleast 45% having participated in inter-collegiate / Inter District / Divisional Level Sports /Games tournament.
or
Graduate with at least 45% marks and one year training Programme in sports science , sports management ,sports coaching ,yoga, Olympic education ,sports journalism etc.
Physical fitness of the candidate is assessed by administering National Physical Fitness Program Tests of India.

Candidates seeking admission to B.P.Ed., Degree course should be below 26 years of age,28 years for SC, ST and Category - 1, as on 1rst July of the year of admission.The age is relaxable upto 30 years for outstanding sports persons.Outstanding sports person means a candidate who has participated in recognized inter-university /interstate/international sports or games competions.However in case of in-service candidates (trained Physical Education Teachers and coaches)the age is relaxed upto 35 years, subject to condition that,they are medically fit.All candidates shall produce a medical fitness certificate issued by a medical officer of not less than the rank of district Surgeon along with the application.

There shall be reservation seats for SC/ST/Cat-1/ as per the rules of the Karnataka State Government.

Growth and Development : Meaning Distinction - General Characteristics of Growth and Development.

Heredity and Environment : Meaning of the term : Mechanism of Heredity Transmission ;classification of environment ; interplay of both.

b
i Difference between male and female : Structural ; Functional,Psychological.
ii

Body types and classification : Relation of body type relationship of body types with physical educationand Sports.

c
i Principles of use, and principles of load.
ii

Chronological, Physiological and Anatomical ages.

iii

Reciprocal interventions and muscle tone.


Unit - III

Sociological Foundation :

a Social Nature of Man .
b

Social values and development of different traits and ideas through physical education and sports.

c

Group dynamics - Mechanics of adaptation of decision, influence of the group on the individual and vice-versa.

Unit - IV

a

Competition and co-operation; Meaning ; Need ;Types; Advantages, Disadvantages and effects of both on interpersonal relationship and performance.

Social recognition / social facilitation , through sports

c

The process of socialization and physical education as a socializing agency.

Unit - V

Psychological Foundation

a

Meaning and definitions of Psychology. Psychophysical units of human organisms.

Reflexaction - condition reflex.

Learning , Meaning, Definitions, Laws of Learning, their application to physical education and sports.

d Transfer of Training and its importance in learning physical skill.
e Theories of transfer and training.
f Theories of Play and Education.
